PRE PRIMARY

Curriculum

The PYP curriculum framework encourages conceptual understanding that goes beyond content and is based on six transdisciplinary themes. These themes integrate all the disciplinary areas and go beyond them, to answer the questions that humanity asks themselves:

  • • Who we are
  • • Where we are in place and time
  • • How we express ourselves
  • • How the world works
  • • How we organise ourselves
  • • Sharing the planet

These transdisciplinary themes frame our units of inquiry and allow our students to develop their agency, exploring their own questions and taking responsibility for their own learning.

Each one of our units of inquiry is an opportunity to understand important concepts or ideas, acquire knowledge and develop skills, that will lead our students to demonstrate the attributes of our HB learner profile and to develop commitment to their local and global environment.

Our Pre Primary students work on four units of inquiry each year, corresponding to four of the six transdisciplinary themes.

Assessment

Formative assessment is integrated into the daily learning process and helps gathering evidence about children’s progress and understanding.

Summative assessment is used to evaluate learning, skill acquisition and academic achievement at the end of a defined time period.

Learning Support

Our school understands the importance of providing learning opportunities for all our students, according to their individual potential and needs. Therefore, it develops a set of actions to support them in the learning and teaching process, as well as in the process of comprehensive adaptation to the educational system.

In this framework, our school is committed to providing support to all students based on their educational needs. Therefore, in order to support each student in the development of their capabilities, we work collaboratively with parents, teachers, psychologists, and external specialists, when necessary.
